In April of 2008 Troop 787 attended the Kings Point Eagle Scout Association Invitational Camporee
in Kings Point Long Island, NY. This was our first time attending this camporee and we had a great
time. In addition to the activities offered by the Kings Point Eagle Scout Association our scouts and
leaders had a fun time interacting with other scouts and leaders from Maryland to Massachusetts to
Rhode Island. Of course it was nice to see our neighboring troops (Troop 351 and Troop 199)
in attendance.

On the slope looking toward Long Island Sound stands a monument to the Academy's World War II
casualties.  Each time a member of the Academy passes the monument they salute for 15 seconds
and after they reach the other side they salute again. As a sign of respect members of Troop 787
did just as members of the Merchant Marine Academy.
